Do you trade, farm or run a small business? If so, GEEP may help. Unlike cash relief, this scheme is a loan. Better still, it carries no interest.
What Is GEEP?
GEEP stands for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme. The National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) runs it. The Bank of Industry administers the loans.
The current phase is Renewed Hope GEEP 3.0. It offers interest-free loans with no collateral. In addition, informal businesses without CAC registration can apply.
The Three Loan Windows
GEEP has three products. Each serves a different group.
- TraderMoni: For petty traders and artisans. Loans reach up to ₦100,000, and amounts can grow after repayment.
- MarketMoni: For market women and small business owners. Loans reach up to ₦100,000.
- FarmerMoni: For smallholder farmers. Loans reach up to ₦300,000 for seeds, fertiliser and equipment.
Who Is Eligible?
You must be a Nigerian with a small business or farm. Priority often goes to women, youths and vulnerable groups.
Generally, you should:
- Run a trade, craft or farm.
- Have a valid NIN and BVN.
- Own an active phone number.
- Meet the age range for your loan window.
Age limits differ by product. The NSIPA FAQ lists 18 to 55 years for MarketMoni and FarmerMoni. Check the portal for your category before you apply.
How Applicants Are Selected
Applications do not mean automatic approval. Officials review and verify details first. Some rounds include revalidation or enumeration exercises.
The process usually runs like this:
- You submit an online application.
- Officials screen the data.
- Shortlisted applicants complete revalidation.
- Successful applicants receive an SMS confirmation.
- Funds are then paid out.
Benefits of GEEP
The scheme offers real advantages for small businesses.
- Zero interest: You repay only what you borrow.
- No collateral: You need no property as security.
- Quick working capital: Restock goods or buy farm inputs.
- Room to grow: Good repayment can unlock larger loans.

How to Avoid Scams
Fake GEEP pages are common. Stay alert:
- Never pay an “agent” to process your loan.
- Use only the official portal address.
- Never share your BVN with strangers or unofficial links.
Final Thoughts
GEEP is one of the few schemes you can apply for directly. It is a loan, so plan to repay on time. That habit keeps the fund running and may raise your next limit. Apply early, use the official portal and stay safe.
