The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened its 2026 recruitment portal. Applications close on 1 November 2026. That leaves very little time. This guide explains the positions, the rules and the steps. Read it first, then apply with confidence.
What the Exercise Offers
The exercise covers four cadres. Each has its own age limit
and minimum qualification. So, check your category before anything else.
The good news is that applying costs nothing. However, you
will need a National Identification Number (NIN). Each person may submit only
one application.
The Four Cadres at a Glance
Let us look at each cadre in turn.
Cadre A: Detective Superintendent (ages 18 to 30). The rank is Assistant Superintendent
of EFCC II, GL 08. You need a bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma. You
also need an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Cadre B: Detective Inspector (ages 18 to 27). The rank is Inspector of EFCC II, GL
06. You need a National Diploma or an NCE from a recognised institution.
Cadre C: Detective Assistant (ages 18 to 25). The rank is Detective Assistant II,
GL 04. You need five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.
You must have earned them in no more than two sittings. WAEC, NECO, GCE and
NABTEB results are accepted.
Cadre D: Professionals and skilled workers (ages 18 to 40). Applicants must be graduates with an
NYSC certificate. Listed fields include medicine, law, engineering, IT and
finance. The list also covers media, librarians, drivers and clerical officers.
Membership of a professional body is an added advantage.
Who Can Apply
Beyond your cadre, some rules apply to everyone. You must be
a Nigerian citizen. You need basic computer skills. You must declare all your
qualifications honestly.
You must also be medically fit. A government-approved
hospital must confirm this. In addition, you must have no tattoos and no
criminal record.
Cadets face extra rules. They must be single. Men must be at
least 1.67 metres tall. Women must be at least 1.64 metres tall. Professionals
should show good character and integrity. A valid driver's licence is a bonus.
How to Apply in Four Steps
The whole process is online. Follow these steps in order.
1.
Register. Create an account with your name, email, phone number and date of birth. Enter your
NIN details exactly as they appear on your NIN.
2.
Verify your email. Open the link sent to you. Then choose a password.
3.
Complete the form. Fill in your details and upload your documents. You can save a draft and
return later.
4.
Submit. Review
everything carefully. You cannot edit an application after submission.
Shortlisted candidates must bring a printed copy of their
application to screening. So, keep a copy safe.
Documents to Have Ready
Gather your documents before you start. This saves time and
stress. You will need:
- a
passport photograph (JPG or PNG only)
- a
birth certificate or declaration of age
- an
indigene or local government certificate
- your
primary school certificate
- WAEC,
NECO or NABTEB results
- your
ND, HND or degree certificate
- your
NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
- a
professional membership certificate, where it applies
Which documents you upload depends on your highest
qualification. Save each file as a PDF, JPG or PNG. Each file can be up to 250
KB. The professional certificate may be up to 500 KB. The system shrinks large
photos for you. It does not shrink PDFs, so keep those within the limit.
Beware of Scams
Do not pay anyone for help. The EFCC does not authorise
agents to collect money from candidates. Trust only the official portal. If you
need help, email info@efcc.gov.ng.
Remember that false information leads to automatic
disqualification. So is submitting more than one application.
Final Thoughts
The EFCC recruitment offers real opportunities across four
cadres. However, the deadline is close. Check your eligibility today. Prepare
your documents. Then submit your application before 1 November 2026.
