Nigerian
Exchange's Equity Market Cap Closes at Historic N40.2 Trillion.
For
yesterday's trading session, the NGX All-Share Index gained +1.28% to close the
day at 73,397.71 points.
This
impressive performance was driven by price uptick in megacaps like TRANSORP
(+10.00%), STANBIC (+9.31%), and AIRTELAF (+4.87%).
This
brings the YTD return of the index to 43.2% from yesterday's 41.75%. The entire
equity market cap was remarkably boosted by N507.6 billion, to close at a
record high of N40.2 trillion.
Driven
by large gains in some of Nigeria's Tier-1 Banks (FUGAZ) - ZENITHBANK (+1.99%),
ACCESSCORP (+1.33%), and UBA (+1.00%) - the NGX Premium Board Index also gained
+0.30% to close yesterday.
However, the NGX Growth Board Index slipped by a
minimal -0.14%.
Sectoral
Performance:
For
the NGX Sector Indices, the NGX Pension Index took first position surging
+1.79% on the back of gains from big names like CUSTODIAN (+5.88%) and AFRIPRUD
(+5.07%). Coming in second and third were the NGX Insurance Index and NGX
Banking Index, gaining +0.83% and +0.75% respectively, supported by upticks in
companies like ZENITHBANK, ACCESSCORP, MANSARD (+4.31%), and WAPIC (+1.5%). All
but one sector index performed well - the NGX Consumer Goods Index.
